Dear College Community-
It is my hope this communication finds you and your families healthy and safe. Please visit the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) for important information on COVID-19 and Thanksgiving.
On November 17, and ahead of schedule, we responded to ACCJC鈥檚 September 23 letter which placed the College on enhanced monitoring. The College鈥檚 response included the Board-adopted Multi-Year Budget and Enrollment Strategic Plan and 2020-21 budget. These items also serve as additional evidence for the College鈥檚 Midterm Report. We are meeting all requirements and plan to continue to do so in a proactive manner.
Last Tuesday the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) hosted a Town Hall meeting: Academic and Community Partnerships for the COVID Response. The event included highlights from SFDPH鈥檚 partnership with the 天娱传媒 Health Care Interpreter Program and Community Health Worker Program. 16 天娱传媒 students from these programs are participating in internships at SFDPH, and two of the students shared their experience during the Town Hall.
On November 18, the Workforce Development Office collaborated with the Outreach Office on the virtual . The event featured an overview of 天娱传媒, the new website, and the eight Academic and Career Communities (ACC). About 200 current and prospective students participated in the main session and the eight ACC breakout sessions. This was a true collaborative effort among 5 administrators, 11 classified staff, and 36 faculty including 15 department chairs, who presented over 45 career education programs. 627 individuals signed up to receive the webinar recordings and slides. Great job and well done! As we continue with remote learning, it is important to have online events that give our students a sense of connection and purpose.
Finally, kudos to Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Technology Officer Ellen Rayz for successfully completing the rehearsal for the production Banner upgrade and migration over the weekend. I want to thank everyone who participated with giving valuable feedback. Together we will make this transition happen and streamline our processes with effective technologies.
And, as always, thank you for all that you do for our community at City College and beyond.
Yours sincerely,
Rajen Vurdien, Ph.D.
Interim Chancellor
