Degrees and certificates require a narrative, at minimum. This applies to all credit and noncredit programs, except for local certificates of accomplishment.

All CTE program submissions must also include advisory minutes/notes and labor market information (LMI). Newly proposed credit CTE programs need to request current LMI for Bay Area Community College Consortium (BACCC) approval. Please note that the BACCC approval process is not required of noncredit CTE programs.

For program modifications, please see the bottom of this page for resources to create your own LMI document.

  • Remember, program aggregate reports must be launched at some point in the 18 months prior to outline modification submissions. These assessment reports pull together the results of individual section-level reports through mapped outcomes and should inform outline revision. Allow time for analysis, reflection, and conversation. Consult your chair or program coordinator about the currency of the aggregate report you need. See the !

Supplemental documentation to be uploaded in CurrIQunet:

Narrative (All), LMI (CTE), Advisory Notes (CTE)

Writing the Narrative

  • Upload the narrative in CurrIQunet as a Word Doc prior to launching the program outline. This applies to all credit and noncredit programs, except for certificates of accomplishment.
    • Credit
      • .
        • Unlike other credit narratives, an AA-T or AS-T program narrative basically matches what's already in the program outline, so try copying/pasting from CurrIQunet to a Word Doc.
        • For additional AD-T guidance, see , the , and 天娱传媒's Articulation Officer. Also consult the for required language.
    • Noncredit
      • .
        • See the  for samples, as well as .
    • CTE (Credit or Noncredit)
      • CTE program narratives must include a year/semester course timeline for a program--e.g., Y1, S2鈥攆or BACCC approval, as well as a consideration of similar CTE regional programs.  See sample CTE narratives in the  and page 83 of the .
      • Unsure if your program is CTE? Look for an asterisk next to your ToP Code on the Codes and Notes page in CurrIQunet.

Providing LMI Data

  • This is needed for CTE programs only.
  • Upload in CurrIQunet prior to launching the program outline.
    •  early in the NEW program creation process. data for new programs can take 15 work days or more to produce.
    • Please do not request a new LMI report for a modification, unless you have a serious need. Program modification writers should gather LMI in other ways.
    • See FAQs below for links to LMI resources that will enable you to produce your own LMI report.

Providing Advisory Minutes

  • This is needed for CTE programs only.
  • Upload in CurrIQunet prior to launching the program outline.
    •  When developing a new degree or certificate, your advisory committee should see a version of that program so that they may provide feedback before it undergoes Curriculum Committee review. That step should be reflected in the minutes. See page 92 of the .
    • Spring '23 Flex Day on CTE advisory committees
  • The Office of Workforce Development maintains an archive of advisory minutes.
  • The CTE Liaison uses the submitted program materials to prepare the BACCC paperwork needed for recommendation. Any CTE credit certificate that is 16 or more units requires review by both the BACCC and Chancellor's Office.

FAQ: BACCC and LMI Questions and Expectations

Is my degree or certificate a CTE program?
See your program outline's Codes and Notes section in CurrIQunet.  If the ToP Code has an asterisk, then it's a CTE program.

What is the BACCC?
See

Can I search BACCC records of my program and related programs?
Absolutely. Go to  to search by region, status, and subject/keyword.

For how long is labor market information considered current for a newly proposed program?
One year. (However, if the report is a "rush" and the LMI data has not changed significantly, that period may be extended by a month or two).

How frequently do we need to submit materials to the BACCC?
  • Only new programs need to come through the BACCC process and require a LMI Report from the to be attached with the submission to the BACCC. . This means that program modifications DO NOT need new BACCC approval and do not need another "official" COE LMI report.
  • If LMI is already on file from when a program undergoing modification was first proposed and approved, the Curriculum Committee can accept LMI that is not the 5-6 page "official" COE report.  Use other resources. For example, anyone can gather data from the website where they provide and  for this purpose. and see their guide called .

All other requests for COE LMI reports will likely take longer than the 15 days promised for NEW programs.
